Activities Of The South Queens Rotary Club
The Rotary Satellite Club of South Queens participated in the following activities from its inception:
- Collected and distributed personal hygiene products for residents of a battered women's shelter in the community.
- Collaborated with the Freeport Merrick Rotary Club in the Sole4souls shoe drive - Commemorated Veterans Day at the Queens Village Veterans Plaza honoring the veterans in the community
- Collected and distributed disaster relief supplies for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey
- Collected and distributed personal items needed by homeless veterans, in collaboration with three other clubs, as part of the 2023 Rotary Day of Service.
- Collected personal hygiene items sent to the studentresidents of Institut Montfort residential school for the deaf in Haiti
- Supported the Gift of Life program in New York by providing lodging and logistical support to two children who came to New York from Haiti to receive cardiac intervention
- Initiated a literacy project for the Sacred Heart Catholic Academy by purchasing books for classroom libraries, from kindergarten through eighth grade
- Participated in the 2023 Alzheimer’s Walk - Collected winter clothing for newly arrived asylum seekers - Supported the activities of the Rotary Foundation.
